Job description:
Looking for an Enterprise Architect – Onsite - Ottawa – Fulltime contract (multi-year).
Key Responsibilities
● Lead the development and evolution of enterprise-wide architecture frameworks, principles, and standards.
● Define target-state architecture models that support scalability, agility, and innovation, ensuring alignment with business capabilities and domain strategies.
● Develop strategic roadmaps in collaboration with senior business and technology leaders.
● Recommend architectural patterns that reduce complexity and cost, and promote reuse of common platforms, services, and components.
● Present architectural insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders; advocate for strategic technology investments.
● Participate in architecture review boards and ensure adherence to enterprise standards.
● Collaborate with domain architects, solution architects, delivery teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure cohesive, consistent designs.
● Coach and mentor other architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to instill architectural thinking.
Deliverable(s)
● Enterprise architecture strategy and vision documents.
● Gap analysis of the existing enterprise architecture practice.
● Visual and narrative representations of target-state architecture across domains and programs.
● Phased implementation roadmaps developed with business and technology leaders.
● Documentation of approved technologies, design patterns, and architectural guidelines.
● Executive-level presentations and architecture decision records.
Education
● University undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent progressive IT experience (10+ years).
Experience
○ Minimum 10 years leading enterprise-wide architecture strategy, governance, and roadmap development
○ 10+ years designing integrated solutions aligned with enterprise standards
○ 10+ years in at least one of: enterprise data modeling and governance, cloud-native architecture and migration, or API/middleware/microservice design
○ expert knowledge of architecture modelling tools (e.g., ArchiMate, Sparx EA, BiZZdesign, Orbus iServer).
Certifications
● TOGAF, Zachman, etc.

● Review and document the current-state security architecture across systems, networks, and applications, identifying gaps, vulnerabilities, and improvement areas.
● Validate IT infrastructure and reference architectures against security best practices; recommend changes to reduce risk.
● Define future-state security architecture aligned with enterprise goals and regulatory requirements.
● Develop and maintain security architecture principles, patterns, and reference models.
● Provide security architecture input into solution designs, ensuring secure-by-design principles are applied.
● Review and approve architecture artifacts from a security perspective; participate in architecture review boards and governance forums.
● Work with enterprise architects, business units, and IT teams to integrate security into enterprise architecture.
Deliverable(s)
● High-level document outlining existing security posture, gaps, and risks.
● Comprehensive target-state security architecture design, including key components and integration points.
● Formal documentation of security principles, patterns, and reusable components.
● Organizational Zero Trust security strategy.
● Written risk assessments of proposed solutions with recommended mitigations.
Education
● University undergraduate degree or diploma in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent progressive IT experience (10+ years).
Experience
○ Minimum 10 years' experience with security frameworks (NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, Zero Trust Architecture)
○ Proven ability to design secure enterprise architectures across hybrid and cloud environments
○ Minimum 5 years in security architecture specifically, including enterprise-level design and implementation
Certifications
● Required: CISSP, SABSA, TOGAF, CISM, or equivalent.
